A fire has erupted at a garment factory on Madawelikada Road in Rajagiriya.

An officer at Kotte Fire Department said a fire was reported to them at 10.48 am and they immediately dispatched four fire engines and six firefighters to the scene. Meanwhile, upon their request the Colombo Fire Department also dispatched two more fire engines to douse the fire. Sri Lanka Air Force said they also dipatched a fire vehicle to the scene.

Kotte Fire Department has requested more assistance from the Disaster Management Centre and the SLAF. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
