Ballot Boxes Transportation Begins Today for Secure Elections

Election Commission Chairman R.M.A.L. Ratnayake says ballot boxes and officials have begun being transported to polling stations for the parliamentary elections.

The Chairman stated that ballot boxes and officials will be transported to 13,314 polling stations today (Nov. 13).

This time, 8,352 candidates are contesting the general election, 5,006 of whom are from recognized parties.

The number of independent candidates is 3,346.

Polling for the 2024 parliamentary elections is scheduled to begin tomorrow (Nov. 14) at 7:00 am.

Accordingly, the Election Commission said that the counting of postal votes will begin at 4:15 pm while general voting will begin at around 7:15 pm.
