Over 10,000 election observers from both local and international organizations will be monitoring the 2024 Parliamentary election in Sri Lanka.
Currently, 43 international observers are in the country, including 3 from the European Union and 30 from the Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL). In addition, 10 observers have come from neighboring countries.
On the local side, approximately 10,000 observers from 10 different organizations will be part of the monitoring effort. Notably, the People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) has deployed 5,000 observers.
Furthermore, 8 organizations have received approval for mobile surveillance operations. The National Election Commission has also implemented a special security plan to ensure the safety of all election observers.
